Cuppa

For years, I’ve hosted Teyuna Foundation’s Cuppa—an hour each week we gather to share a virtual cup of tea, meditate, connect and share wisdom. Recently, I asked our community a question that resulted in thoughtful, moving answers that reaffirmed why this gathering is so special.

What does Cuppa mean to you?

The cuppas make it easier to translate the mamos and zagas teachings into practicality. It’s a place where their teachings make sense.

Cuppa is my chance to see how people use the teachings in their daily lives in an environment where I naturally integrate the teachings and see how to apply them more widely.

Cuppa is a place where Gaia as living Mother Earth is not some far out woo woo concept, it’s a truth known and communicated.

Cuppa is a lifesaver because there are weeks when that hour is my moment of sanity. That there are people who see the world how I see the world in a place where I can be me without having to justify or explain is vital.

Cuppa is a very very precious place to be with like-minded people who are willing to be honest, transparent and accepting - hard to find in this world. It keeps me honest with myself - so many times I say “I’m not going to do it” but I get on because it brings me home to myself - it’s beautiful. We weave and create a whole stronger than the parts.

One participant mentioned she’s been struggling with what’s going on in the world and hasn’t been doing her full version of “the greetings” (many of us give daily gratitude, love and blessings to Mother Nature). She went on to say “I know they return to me so much more than I give out. Yesterday morning a small bird came and greeted me, and I offered it a small bit of walnut. It landed on my hand! In all, three different birds landed in my hand and were back again today.” (At this point we interrupted to excitedly point to the confirmation her greetings are being recognized by Spirit and she is fully supported.) She went on to say “when the 1stone landed and I felt those tiny feet on my hand and then felt the difference between the three sets of feet, it brought me full circle to what it means to me to have enriched my life with the teachings I’ve put into practice.”

A sense of community and family has built as time has gone by and we’ve revealed more about ourselves. Everyone is so caring and kind and we always talk about something inspiriting and enriching.”

Another participant reminded us she’d been so moved after seeing From the Heart of the World: The Elder Brothers’ Warning https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fvckocaVPNA and Aluna https://youtu.be/ftFbCwJfs1I she’d written about the experience for her blog.

In excerpt:

…[the Kogis] lives became my touchstone for thinking about “Younger Brother’s” world and my deep yearning for a different reality and the opportunity for a truly authentic way of life for all of us… the richness of their wisdom and their wholistic worldview are integrated on a deep and ancient level….Mary's firsthand experience was profound and inspiring. Though the Kogi seem incongruously out of place in Younger Brother’s world…the strength of their wisdom seems as unchanged, grounded, resolute and secure as we felt it in the film….[living] in total harmony with the natural world around them despite encroachment that weakens the natural systems they’ve relied on since time immemorial…manifesting deep and ancient inner peace in their interactions with the outside world to maintain their protective power in the entire Sierra Nevada mountain range.”

As for me, as one regular noted, I get energized by the meditations I lead. I also sincerely appreciate meeting with the intention to strengthen unconditional love for our Mother.  Cuppa reminds me the teachings of the Mamos and Zagas reflected in our own lived experiences grow the seeds of compassion, mercy and wisdom. For that, I’m endlessly grateful."
